Managing Without Over-Managing: How I Freed Up My Time While Ensuring Departmental Excellence



 As the name suggests, these teams comprise both external specialists and in-house employees. Occasionally, someone from within the company leads an external team.

It’s crucial to remember that work itself can be either ongoing or project-based. Ongoing work, such as assembly line production or food processing, necessitates a stable roster of skilled personnel who you wouldn’t want to part with. You need to nurture, protect, motivate, and cherish them — essentially create favorable working conditions to maintain product or service quality at a high standard.

However, when it comes to project-based work, such as creating a brand book, shooting compelling advertisements or photos, it can often be handled by an external team. You don’t necessarily need a permanent photographer or videographer on your staff if, for example, you manufacture doors and introduce new product models only once a quarter.

To tackle the complexity of our project, I decided to appoint a leader for each distinct task group. For instance, the development of a new website involved multiple specialists, from programmers and web designers to copywriters and SEO experts.
