I'm terrified of DeSantis as a Floridian. Nevertheless, DeSantis has frequently been accused by the media of things that were either untrue or wholly misleading.
I can speak from personal experience when I say that anything the media says about politics is misrepresented in some way because I have worked in politics for more than ten years. It's surprising that they aren't always at blame.
It's simple to presume that it's biased or deliberate. It's frequently neither. Politics is frequently misunderstood by the people. There are lots of misconceptions, biases, and lies. We don't require the media's misinformation.
