Most of the time, I love reading the comments I get. I even wrote about the comment section being the one social media metric you should pay attention to, because when you get positive feedback from your readers, it’s the best feeling in the world. You’re reminded of why you’re doing this writing thing, and you’re compelled to keep going.
It’s confirmation that your words do matter. Your stories are helping people in some way, whether by motivating or inspiring them, reminding them that they’re worthy and enough, giving them some tough love and a friendly kick in the butt, or just helping them feel seen and understood.
If your goal as a writer is to help others improve their lives, or even change the world in your own small way, then comments that reinforce that you’re having the intended impact are like winning the lottery. Each time you receive a thank you or a heartfelt message in response to an article, you do another happy dance around your living room and click your heels together like Glinda.
