A Quitter Never Wins

A Quitter Never Wins, And A Winner Never Gives Up

When I was a little child and had won a national baton twirling championship, my father gave me a bracelet with this words engraved on it. Blood and tears were poured, and it wasn't an elegant victory, but I didn't give up and that gave me and my team the victory.

When I finished the third circle of my triple spin during my solo routine, my baton—which was supposed to float gracefully up and then down into my waiting hand—met my face—specifically, my eye. It then bounced off my eye to the floor and into the judge's table.

My good eye is scouring the floor while my head swirls.
