Democratic Civil War
Republican contenders competed for the hearts and minds of Republican voters throughout America during the second Republican primary debate this week. Candidates alternately traded jabs at one another and occasionally at former President Trump, who was once again absent from the second debate, while courting important demographics.
While former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie blasted the previous President for everything from losing elections to bad policies, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis attacked Trump for being a no-show. No one actually "won" the discussion, despite all the confusion, interruptions, disputes, and mudslinging. The endeavor proved fruitless.
So much so that the Washington Post claimed the following day that Nikki Haley was the only Republican to give a performance that was noteworthy enough.
