Into The Void

 I Wrote, "Into The Void,"

The Vietnam War was still raging in 1971. The entire world, neatly divided into two halves, with each side accusing the other and pointing fingers.

Sons who didn't want to fight were ignored by their fathers. Mothers prayed and lit candles as politicians lied and posed for photos, throwing a pall of anxiety over the lives of the people they trusted most but didn't know much about because they didn't know what else to do.

I penned my first poem in the midst of this small whirlwind. My initial attempt at purging included so much emotion in its condensed form, even if it did not rhyme or read properly, that I was unable to control my tears as they fell over my notebook.
