Op-Ed and News Story Bingo: Anti-Trans
I'm old. I'm old enough to recall how trans individuals were generally disregarded by the media in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s.
I've been around long enough to recall the "transgender tipping point" in 2014, when the mainstream media abruptly accepted the existence of trans people and applauded itself for becoming more accepting of us. if not permanently, at least for that instant.
I'm old enough to recall the early anti-trans backlash (between 2015 and 2019), when every month or so, a heterodox-identified writer would publish an article or op-ed questioning the wisdom of trans people (and particularly trans children) existing. It might even be utterly awful, in fact!
