 Bill filed by Lagman declaring the anniversary of EDSA a permanent holiday


Lagman submitted the bill in response to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s "Proclamation 368," which removed February 25 from the list of holidays and special non-working days for 2024.

Since there is no official statute designating the 1986 EDSA People Power holiday as a regular national public non-working holiday, the presidents have had the authority to decide whether to declare it a national holiday each year.

The EDSA People Power anniversary celebration was rescheduled by PBBM on February 24 this year in order to extend the weekend and encourage holiday spending.
