The US Department of Justice (DOJ) and Google both presented their opening statements on Tuesday this week in what is the first anti-trust trial in 25 years. Despite the recent prominence of Big Tech regulation in the public discourse, no cases have yet been tried in court. In the final trial that was open to the public, DOJ v. Microsoft, the court determined that Microsoft had indeed abused its monopoly power to stifle competition in the browser market.
