The world's most lonely boy
There is a little island off the coast of Kerry, in Ireland. The wind and salty seas batter the island, causing not a single tree to grow there due to the severe weather. People have moved on to more opulent lives on the mainland, leaving it abandoned.
There once lived hardened humans. On the rare days that the weather permitted it, they would sail to the main land to get supplies. They would also fish out of small boats, herd sheep, and tend to a few donkeys. There was no electricity, no priest, no doctor, and no school. The entire population would row three miles across the open sea to the closest mainland village for the Sunday liturgy.
