 How Did Life Become So Mechanistic?


My dependable Fitbit just begun to fail me. White lines began to splatter over the screen while I was strolling around my neighborhood, foreshadowing the screen's oncoming destruction. In today's quick-paced tech world, it was an antiquated artifact that I had been carrying around for almost two years. This tiny device had evolved into my 24-hour life monitor. If Fitbit could quantify it, you can guarantee I was monitoring and studying it out of pure curiosity as well as a macabre obsession with how my body functioned on a daily basis. I chuckled to myself as I pondered the question, "Like a falling tree in the forest, does a walk even count if you can't count the steps?"
