 How to Develop into the Kind of Manager You'd Want to Work For


The OK and slightly disheveled managers had a small but discernible influence on the kind of manager I became. My outstanding supervisors had a greater impact, but there was a limit. But what about those dishonest, cunning, deceitful garbage bosses? They were the ones who helped me develop as a manager.

The same is true of my own shortcomings. Although I gain knowledge from my accomplishments, I actually learn a lot more from my failures. I learned a lot from the successful managers I've worked with over the years; a few of them are even close friends of mine.

However, those poor managers failed. They taught me a lot more than I did.
