Pit stains and Horseback Rides: The Party That Ruined My First Year
My nose was flooded with the smell of fried food, and I felt uncomfortable. I was enrolled in the free lunch program and wanted a bagel with cream cheese. While our peers were enjoying ice cream sandwiches and yogurt cups, people like me were forced to eat whatever oily meal and mushy vegetables the lunch lady served us.
As I walked past each table in the busy cafeteria in search of a vacant seat, laughter resounded throughout. A few pupils were staring at me, possibly wondering who I was. All of them ignored me.
