Meet Ibrahim, a Gay Sudanese Youth Tortured at Kakuma by the UN
Ibrahim's narrative might be romantic and motivational in another reality. He is a 21-year-old man who started dating Asim, a student at his high school in Sudan, an East African country, when he was 15 years old. They maintained their love in the face of severe hardship. They found a way to reunite even after being found out and split apart, just like star-crossed lovers.
However, it was six years ago, and this is not a love story.
Today, Ibrahim lives in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya with a different partner—a young guy who fled anti-gay persecution in Yemen, which is located halfway across the globe from where they both currently reside.
But living isn't really the best thing.
