My favorite in-law's father
Although he is the kindest man I have ever met and is not my biological father, he is the father of my new husband.
They have a good camaraderie and connection with one another, which makes me envious. In 2017, my own Dad unexpectedly went away.
I've only been a member of the family for two years in actuality. At 59 and 64 years old, respectively, my husband and I were just recently wed.
As each of us had been wed to toxic individuals for 30 years prior, this was our second union. (I realize this is a tired euphemism!)
Since then, I've had the good fortune to get to know "Gramps" (my father-in-law), and he's allowed me to snoop around.
