The September 29th floods in New York City
I've spent over ten years residing in New York City. I've lived in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn, the Lower East Side of Manhattan, St. George, Staten Island, Woodside, Queens, and most recently Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
I've resided all over. And I have never witnessed a failure of the public service in New York City as I did on Friday, September 29. On Friday, September 29th, the rain didn't really seem to be that awful. NYC personnel are called in ahead of time to check drain grates in New York City to make sure they don't get clogged and create flash flooding when it rains for long periods of time, such as 24 hours or more. while the drain is open
