Is podcasting really on the decline?

I wrote an article titled "2022: The Year That Podcasting Died" at the end of last year and published it on Medium on December 16th, which was Bill Hicks' birthday. The end of the year audit of both personal and professional trends and thoughts was something I've been doing since I founded my digital media company, Podot. How are things going? Do they have a good direction to go in? And what do I believe the near future will bring?

I gave it that title for two reasons: first, I wanted to express my general pessimism about the prolonged sustainability of the open-RSS audio podcast as we've known it over the past ten years; and, second, I wanted people to understand my wide pessimism about the future of the podcasting industry.
